Comments I just want to commend you Mr. Curry, for your continued outstanding journalistic and "movement" achievements!!!
When I think about what is going to happen to us a people when all the soldiers have gone on in our era, I shutter.
I praise God for your many examples as a directed Black leader and man of God, that always everything that you do is decent and in order.
I hail from Manhattan in 48, & now reside in So. California. I throughly enjoyed you on BET news ( when it was Black! I recently enjoyed watching the CSPAN televised MILLION MOVEMENT gathering!! I am a weary female soldier who enjoys encouraging other folks to continue to struggle for justice and their civil rights to want the best education that they can obtain thru their own efforts.
Currently I am a volunteer tutor for adult literacy, and I have been certified thru LACO as an a voluteer tutor for young struggling adults. Hopefully you will have the real time to return my email, I would be elated!!!!!

Comments I am a recipient of you dedicating time and effort to shaping the minds of youth. Your influence has always modivated me, I will always remember your words, " You have to be twice as good", meaning our level of integrity and devotion must always exceed the norm just to remain employed. Thanks for taking the time during those workshops in St. Louis. Eventhough that was over 25 yrs ago, my experience there shaped who and what I am today. Thanks again and God bless!

Comments Your presentation in Dallas was outstanding. The format for the banquet was the best ever. It beats the speaker only format heads down. A quote from Dr. King is appropriate here. He is quated as saying "Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than have to think" end quote. Mr. Curry, thank you for making us think and hats off to the Texas State Conference for creating the platform for the dialogue. However, I must also give credit to Georgia Noone, former NAACP Regional Director for using the format at the Regional Conference in Austin, Texas in March as well.

Comments George - I read your commentary When Friends Die First - it brought tears to my eyes, tears of sadness, joy and pride. Your words flowed so beautifully and the way you expressed the relationships during those Druid years brought back so many memories. Keep up the good work and continue to make "us" proud.

Please keep up the great work...and if you're looking for writers for your next project, all you gotta do is connect. (c:

Comments George, I was introduced to you when you were editor of Emerge magazine. Thank you for your courageous writing and your advocacy for justice. It was gratifying when Mr. Clinton pardoned Kemba Smith.
Would you write a column about the facts regarding illegal immigrants in America. Truthfully, there are only two legal immigrant groups in America: Native Americans and African Americans. Native Americans were here when Columbus 'discovered' America; African Americans were brought here as slaves. Everyone else is an illegal immigrant. Please set the record straight.

Comments I was talking to a young man today..We were discussing football. The young man is a college and professional football fan. I mentioned that my uncle, Jake Gaither, was a famous head coach at FAMU quite a few years ago. He had never heard of him.

It made me feel so proud when I was able to get information about Jake Gaither on your website.

Thank you for the beautiful
memories that I will be able to print and share with my family at our reunion in Charlotte next year.

Comments I love you George! I miss seeing you and the others on the BET Lead story show. I would wake up early on Sunday mornings to watch. I have decided to become more involved in the black community in Tacoma, Washington. It is not easy. There are some who have been around a long time, and are afraid of change. They still want to talk about civil rights and racism; but we need to talk about economic development, having quiet, decent neighborhoods to live in,schools with computers and teachers thatwant African American students to suceed, etc. I want to make radical changes, but the odds are so stacked against change from the blacks in the community and from the whites that have benefitted for so long with having things just the way they are.

Love, Bertina

Comments Appreciate you taking the time to express your perspective on WCHB. Even though the station supports DLC Dems and maintaining the status quo in Detroit. Black folks have been in charge here for 30 years, but we are now headed towards bankruptcy. The leadership here isn't any better than the CBC in DC. Sad. We should be a northern "Mecca" for Black folks. Instead, we have a 47% illiteracy rate, 15% unemployment, and our local economy is controlled by outsiders. "Detroit: A travesty in, and tragic failure of, Black leadership"

Peace! Keep callin' it like it is!

Comments Mr. Curry,
I am glad to see you are reviving Emerge Magazine. That was one of the most important magazines ever in the black community. I subscribed, as well as, buying subscriptions for family members. The issue with Clarence Thomas with the Rag on his head is masterpiece. I still have at least 10 magazines that I keep as souvenirs. Once the magazine is started again, I will definitely subscribe, as well as, my extended family. The selling of BET to VIACOM was performed to take the independent voice of Black America and turned it into nothing but mindless videos. Lead Story was one of the top analysis political shows on television. It kept Black America informed and swayed Washington Politics to understand the interest of the black community. Your magazine also provided critical and honest analysis of Conservative politics in the world. Keep up the good work and I will look for and subscribe to your magazine and tell friends about it as well.

Best Regards,
Darryl Jefferson (MBA)
